Top 5 Carpooling and Ridesharing Apps on Android in South America - Q4 2021

The fourth quarter of 2021 saw significant activity in the carpooling and ridesharing app sector on the Android platform in South America. Here, we highlight the performance of the top 5 apps based on weekly downloads and active users.

Uber - Request a ride showed strong performance throughout Q4 2021. Weekly downloads started at around 261K in late September and saw a consistent rise, peaking at approximately 399K by the week of December 20th. The app also witnessed significant growth in weekly active users, beginning the quarter with about 13.1M and reaching a high of 16M in mid-December before a slight drop to 12.9M by the end of the quarter.

inDrive. Save on city rides experienced a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting at roughly 228K and peaking at around 331K in the week leading up to December 20th. The app’s weekly active users followed a similar trend, beginning at 4.4M and reaching a peak of approximately 6.1M by mid-December before declining slightly to 5.2M by the quarter's end.

DiDi Rider: Affordable rides also showed notable growth. Weekly downloads rose from 122K at the end of September to a peak of around 190K by December 20th. The active user base increased from 2.3M to a peak of approximately 3.1M in mid-December, ending the quarter at around 2.5M.

Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver saw fluctuating download numbers, starting at about 107K and peaking at around 142K in the week leading up to December 20th. Active users followed a relatively steady trend, beginning the quarter at 1.1M and ending at roughly 1.2M.

Lastly, Cabify showed a consistent increase in weekly downloads, starting at 53K and peaking at nearly 98K by the week of December 20th. The app's active users grew from 936K to a peak of about 1M in late November before slightly dropping to 847K by the end of December.
